Similitude
Sim-Trip/Malcolm
This scene as written here contains dialogue which was cut from the aired version. Sim is recalling Trip's memories of the ill-fated shore leave on Risa with Malcolm. Seeing Malcolm's discomfort when he realized that he wasn't talking to his friend would have been a good insight into the difficulty the crew had in dealing with Sim, and Sim's difficulty in fitting in.

ACT THREE
INT. MESS HALL
The windows are fully encrusted. Sim-Trip, now an adult, is
at a table. It's after hours -- very few people around.
Reed ENTERS and joins Sim-Trip, who's sampling a slice
of pie. (NOTE: From this point forward, Sim-Trip will
be played by Connor Trinneer.)

Key lime pie.
SIM-TRIP
I suddenly realized it was my

(savoring a forkful)
...now I know why.
REED
Do these memories just come to

this whole other life...I can't
explain it...
REED
I can't imagine it...
SIM-TRIP
Remembered something about you
this morning...
REED
Is that right?
SIM-TRIP
We were in a bar on Risa...
(correcting himself)
...I mean, you and Trip were in a
bar on Risa...you were talking
with two incredible-looking
women...
REED
(cringing slightly)
We thought they were women...
SIM-TRIP
You followed them down into that
basement...
REED
Bloody stupid...
SIM-TRIP
When they turned into those
creatures, I'll never forget the
look on your face...
REED
My face? What about you? I
thought you were going to jump out
of your...
He stops, having gotten caught up in the moment,
forgotten that he isn't talking to Trip. His slip
brings about an awkward silence.
SIM-TRIP
It's no picnic reminiscing with
someone else's past.
REED
(changing the subject)
You wanted to ask me something?
(the scene continues as it appeared on screen)
